Babe Penguin in its Meal

Today we focus on a baby penguin that is being reared by the staff.
This is the baby.
Let's see how to feed the baby for the first time after we shifted the baby to artificial brooding.
The baby looked a bit troubled with the staff. It is quite natural, since it was reared by its parents after its hatch and it has never seen a human that close to itself.
The staff forced its bill open a bit and squeezed a fish into its mouth.
After some trials, the baby learned to eat fish from the hand of the staff.
At first the baby ate only four horse mackerels because it was a bit nervous. Now it eats about 200g of fishes in each meal.
After the meal the baby looked sleepy and fell asleep, leaning to the hand of the staff.
A closeup of the foot of an adult Jackass Penguin. With such tough feet the penguin is able to walk through rocky shore. In the Garden, you can see the penguins climbing the rock or the log in the pond and taking a rest.
What about its baby?
Though the foot of a baby looks delicate compared to an adult, you can see the tough claws at its tip.
Probably by "Golden Week" holidays when the baby penguins grow more, we'll be able to exhibit the baby. Please don't miss it among adult penguins during your visit.
